Autism spectrum disorder is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others.
Founded in the 1970’s by Geri Christ Landry, we are an affiliate in good standing with the Autism Society of America. We provide support, services and opportunities to persons with autism and their families in the following parishes: Calcasieu, Cameron, Beauregard, Jeff Davis, Allen, and Vernon.
Support meetings are held the first Saturday of each month, September through May in Lake Charles. In addition, we have an extensive lending library with the latest books and DVD’s available for individuals to check out at their leisure. We provide advocacy in schools as well as conferences and workshops.
Your generous gift will help us fund our mission to help those in need. Together, we can make a difference.
We applied for the Hussman Foundation grant this summer for a Lego Room, arts and crafts supplies, and materials for Camp Hopen and were granted the grant. New and exciting things are coming to Camp Hopen this summer, be on the look out for a MAP of the “rooms” at Camp Hopen this summer in your camp packets.
